HEALTHY FRENCH TOAST

Makes: 8 (10 or more Samples) servings

Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 Large Egg Whites
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 3/4 Cup Non-Fat Milk
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • Salt
  • 2 Teaspoons Butter
  • 8 Slices Firm Whole Wheat French Bread or Sprouted Grain Bread
  • Pure Maple Syrup
  • Fresh Berries (Optional)
  • Sifted Icing Sugar/Powdered Sugar

Directions

In a pie plate, with a whisk, beat egg whites, egg, milk, vanilla, and salt until blended. Spray non-stick spray or melt some butter in a medium pan or electric skillet and heat to medium.

Dip bread slices, 1 at a time, in egg mixture, pressing bread lightly to coat both sides well. Place 3 or 4 slices in skillet and cook 6-8 minutes or until lightly brown on both sides.

Repeat with the remaining butter, bread slices, and egg mixture. Serve French Toast with maple syrup, powdered sugar or fresh berries if you like.
