An easy holiday recipe to give young cooks an appreciation for what is in cranberry sauce! Using only orange juice and honey as sweeteners, this is also a healthier alternative to canned cranberry sauces and jellies.

Makes: 10 servings servings

Time: 25 minutes (including cook time)

Ingredients

  • 8Ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1/2orange, cut into small cubes
  • 2Teaspoons orange zest
  •  Juice from half an orange
  • 1Pinch Salt
  •  water, as needed
  • 3Tablespoons Honey

Directions

Rinse cranberries and place in medium-sized pot. Add orange pieces, orange zest, and orange juice. Add a pinch of salt. Cook on medium heat, stirring and mashing as berries get soft. If mixture becomes dry, add water, a splash at a time. Cook on low for about 20 minutes. When berries and orange are soft, turn off heat and stir in honey.  Serve warm or cold. Refrigerate to store.

This sauce can be used at your Thanksgiving table or buffet or used in the Thanksgiving Holiday Turkey Cranberry Pinwheels!
